This time I specifically requested no mayo. I went for the Italiano Sandwich ($7.95) which on my first visit was drenched in mayonnaise. Said that Poke from Foodland was ten times better. Some of the fish was brown and both of them said they did not care for the flavor. They said the Poke did not taste fresh and was not a high quality. My girls ordered Small Poke Bowls ($7.25) and added Furikake (.50). The place was hot and to me uncomfortable. As we stood in line my only thought was how fast could we get out of this place. I remember not liking the place because it seemed a bit dirty and when we entered this time I felt the same way. When my Daughter begged me for a Poke Bowl and insisted that we go to Pa'ina Cafe I gave in and we went back to the place that gives me mayonnaise nightmares (see older blog post below). Hated the place and have managed to stay away for a long time. This is a nice little neighborhood spot where you can pick up a quick quality meal.Īfter my first visit to Pa'ina Cafe several years ago I vowed never to return. My Daughter enjoyed her Chicken Pesto Panini ($10) and also liked the side salad. The side salad was good and we loved the house made pickles. A little more meat and less or no Arugula would have been nice. The Arugula was really overpowering all of the other flavors. The only thing I could taste was the Arugula and Balsamic Dressing. Really could not taste the individual meats which included Salami, Sopressata, Mortadella and Prosciutto. The sandwich was very thin for an Italian Sandwich. I went for The Italian Sandwich ($10) which comes with a small salad and house made pickles. With only one cashier it was kind of slow but the gal behind the counter was all smiles and really made people feel welcome. We stopped in for lunch and waited in line at the counter. The new restaurant in located in Aina Haina were Foodland Farms is the anchor tenant. Now that they have a new location closer to home I may visit them more often. I was not a big fan of La Tour Cafe when they opened up their first location on Nimitz Highway.
